The brick of the four mythical animals is 31cm long, 34cm wide. The one of an azure dragon pattern is 29.4cm long, 31cm wide. Both of the two bricks were excavated in Ganggu county of Tianshui city.

Painted bricks originated in the Warring States Period and were widely accepted in the Han dynasty.The paintings on the bricks are the reflections of the expectations and tastes. They are references for the study of the social life of the Han Dynasty.
